Red Robin House- developing essential skills for life!

Red Robin House was officially opened on Friday 24th January 2014 by MP Meg Munn.  Red Robin House is our 'Life Skills' house for children and families of Arbourthorne. The house is dedicated in the memory of the late Councillor John Robson, who was a great friend to the school and who served the people of Arbourthorne, as their local Councillor for many years.

Red Robin House was established to enrich learning and develop independence through the teaching of life skills to give children and families choices. 

The curriculum provided through Red Robin House extends beyond the academic; it supports pupils and families to develop skills which they can use in all aspects of life. We feel it is crucial to prepare pupils for their adult lives, teaching them to understand how to engage with society and providing them with plentiful opportunities to do so.

The activities at Red Robin House are led by members of our Pastoral Team - Michelle Keens and Mags Holmes, and have evolved since 2014 to not only include a progressive Life Skills curriculum but now offer increased opportunities to the wider community through discussion groups for families based on their needs, gardening projects, baby and toddler groups, early reading and phonics groups, all led by school staff and external experts. 

We champion and appreciate the volunteers, parents, carers and members of the Arbourthorne community who support us in providing an extended curriculum that will make a positive impact on pupils future lives!
